| Tuesday nights are so productive. |
| 06.22.05 (4:20 am) [edit] |
Last night, I was involved in an unholy conspiracy, hours of meticulous work just to play an ingenious practical joke on a friend.
During this process, and half a bottle of rum later, I was rooting around in the churning cesspool that is my soul, and found this on one of the knick-knack shelves: I was trying to think of a good Charles Manson quotation to write on my friend's birthday card, when it occurred to me that any of these quotes attributed to Manson could easily have been said by Michael Jackson during his recent trial.
"A baby is born into this world in a state of fear. Total paranoia and awareness. He sees the world with eyes not used yet. As he grows up, his parents lay all this stuff on him. They tell him, when they should be letting him tell them. Let the children lead you."
"My relationship to music is completely subliminal, it just flows through me."
"Remorse for what? You people have done everything in the world to me. Doesn't that give me equal right?"
"They're looking for something dirty in everything, and if you're looking for something, you'll find it. You have to put up some kind of face for them, and that's the only face they understand."
"I am what you have made me. And the mad-dog-devil-killer-lepe r-fiend is a reflection of your society. Whatever the outcome of this madness that you call a "fair trial" or "Christian justice", you can know this: In my mind's eye my thoughts light fires in your cities."
"Most of the people at the ranch that you call (Neverland) were just people that you did not want, people that were alongside the road, that their parents had kicked out, that did not want to go to Juvenile Hall. So I did the best I could and I took them up on my garbage dump and I told them this: that in love, there is no wrong."
"You eat meat and you kill things that are better than you are, and then you say how bad, and even killers, your children are. You made your children what they are...."
"Believe me, if I started murdering people… there'd be none of you left!"
Now honestly, if Jacko had said stuff like this during his trial, would it have changed anything? Would it have changed anyone’s view of him? Could anyone think him MORE insane? Or more saintly? You didn't see the footage of that crazy bitch who released a dove from a cage every time a "not guilty" verdict was announced? (I couldn't help but wonder what would have happened to the corresponding doves had any of the verdicts been "guilty".) If he crapped in his hand and started throwing poop at the press, would anyone be a bit surprised?
